Most US farmers are happy with the 1996 Federal Agricultural Improvement and Reform Act which phases out farm subsidies. High commodity prices and a robust export market are encouraging farmers to plant more crops. Farmers are glad to have flexibility and less regulation.

Article Abstract:

Agricultural policies enacted during the Roosevelt Administration in 1933 are still in place in the US, despite enormous changes in farming. Farm subsidies and policies that circumvent free market prices for farm products are a detriment to the nation.

What makes farming different?
