Article Abstract:

Enterprises that are agile but stable depend on the ability to track all information and events pertinent to their businesses in real-time and 'on the fly.' To do so, distributed artificial intelligence is needed. This will raise some implementational and enterprise philosophical issues, which are examined in the article.
