The boy lama's long and mysterious journey

Article Abstract:

The Karmapa Lama has left Tibet and traveled to India, and the reasons for his journey are not clearly understood. He had been recognized by both China and the Dalai Lama as ranking third among Tibetan Buddhist lamas. China sought to control the second and third lamas, and appointed its own second Panchen lama, arresting the Panchen lama selected by the Dalai lama. Meanwhile, China has appointed five Christian bishops which are not accepted by the Vatican, or a number of Chinese Christians.
