The Ontario Clean Air Alliance

Article Abstract:

Ontario Power Generation is the subject of a complaint filed by the Ontario Clean Air Alliance (OCAA) with Industry Canada's Competition Bureau over a newspaper ad that overstates the amount of corporate pollution reductions implemented by the electric utility. The ad was ran in the Toronto editions of the national newspapers, as well as the Ottawa Citizen and 31 other Ontario dailies and weeklies.

Sound, meaning and details

Article Abstract:

A landmark court decision in Canada has considerably expanded the legal protection extended to foreign-character trademarks in the country. Because of this court case, the test for confusion of such trademarks has become that of the average consumer rather than that of the average Canadian, if the products/services are aimed at a sufficiently large community that understands the language. This implies that the sound, meaning and details regarding appearance will also be taken into account.
