The Iranian opportunity

Article Abstract:

Reformists have gained a majority in elections in Iran, and this has been welcomed by the US, which could use the opportunity to improve relations with Iran. The reformers in Iran have previously faced too much internal pressure to become involved in official negotiations with the US, but the increase in the reformers' strengths could change this. President Bill Clinton could modify the ban affecting trade with Iran and investment in that country. There are also issues relating to petroleum pipelines and Iranian exports that could be tackled.
