Grammy takes on pirates

Grammy Entertainment PCL is trying to reduce the traffic of pirated music by offering special media and music resources through its Internet portal, eotoday.com. However, convincing consumers to purchase music via the Web site has been challenging, and Grammy estimates that 30% of all music sales in Thailand are pirated.

IMF expects faster growth

Article Abstract:

The International Monetary Fund (IMF), stated that Thailand's improved external factors and government regulation should promote growth during the second half of this year, on into 2002. Low interest rates have helped, said the IMF, in bringing down foreign debt by boosting domestic refinancing. Of the $14.3 billion borrowed by Thailand through an IMF rescue package last year, $750 million has already been paid, and another $6.5 billion is expected next year.

Thai tourism authority alters theme but sticks to 'Amazing' campaign

Article Abstract:

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) will continue with what it considers the right campaign for the right product. TAT, which is receiving criticism for resting on the previous successes of the 'Amazing Thailand' tourism campaign, is being urged to come up with a successor to its most successful campaign. Thai tourism, one of the country's major source of foreign exchange, is expected to contribute $8 billion to the economy in 1999 and another $9 billion in 2000.
