Bosnia's Serbs, who oppose the UN peace plan because it names the Drina Valley as Muslim territory, have expelled nearly all of the valley's Muslims. UN commander Philipe Morillon's aid to the besieged Muslim enclave of Srebrenica may not prevent the Serbs from achieving their aims.

Article Abstract:

The continuation of the civil war in Bosnia is puzzling since the Serbs seem to be willing to accept a cease-fire and support from Serbia has stopped. The geography of Serb-, Croat- and Muslim-held positions will make a UN cease fire much more difficult there than in Croatia.

The newly independent republic of Bosnia and Hercegovina is threatened by Serbian militia units seeking to unite Serb-dominated areas in the region through the use of force. Bosnian Muslims and Croats oppose the designs of the Serbs, who seek to create a 'Greater Serbia.'
