Taiwan telecom plays dicey?

Article Abstract:

Taiwan's liberalization of its telecommunications business has not aroused much interest among jaded investors who expect that successful implementation of the new policy will not be immediately undertaken because detailed rules will still have to be made. Nevertheless, the sector is still one of Taiwan's most successful industries and it has been so even during difficult times. According to one investor, the sector's stocks will eventually attract a lot of international investors.

Taiwan invites investors into telecom services

Article Abstract:

The Taiwanese parliament has passed new legislation for the opening of the island's telecommunications sector to private investors and the elimination of the state's longstanding monopoly on the industry. Critics charge that the new law does not go far enough in liberalizing the market but most observers agree that it will benefit Taiwanese consumers by giving them more choices and lower prices.
