Foreign funds are already entering the country in lieu of its upcoming inclusion in Morgan Stanley's global emerging markets family of indexes in Sep. 1996 while high-growth companies in the market represent viable and unique investment opportunities for fund managers. Favorites include Yuanta Securities and Bank SinPac.

Analysts are urging investors in Taiwan's stock market to focus on the stocks of firms whose growth depends on an increase in consumer spending. They believe that these stocks offer the best returns in a market which has already slid by 34.4% in 1995 alone, considering that Taiwan's citizens are among the wealthiest in Asia and have one of the fastest-rising per capita incomes in the region.
