In order to protect the Canadian television broadcasting industry, Canadian laws prohibit some U.S. television channels from broadcasting in Canada. This has resulted in satellite broadcasting piracy among some Canadian viewers, but U.S. satellite television providers and Canadian law enforcement officials are increasing their prosecution of offenders.
