Article Abstract:

The governments involved in a conflict in Congo have met at Addis Ababa, but have failed to reach an agreement on how to end the conflict which is costing scarce resources as well as lives. The governments involved are Rwanda, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Angola, Namibia. There is concern that Congo can be used to shelter rebels, and this especially affects Rwanda, where genocide has occurred. Rwanda denies having troops in Congo, and Rwanda and Uganda argue that Congolese president, Laurent Kabila, should talk directly with the rebels.

Shambles and fury in Durban

Article Abstract:

The United Nations world conference against racism and discrimination which has been held in Durban, South Africa, has achieved none of its lofty aims. Instead, the conference degenerated into recriminations and walk-outs over issues such as slavery and the Middle East question.
