The assumption of many OECD countries is that budget deficits will go away when their economies start to recover. OECD forecasts very sluggish growth for the next year, and even a more robust recovery will likely affect international budget deficits very little.

The US Federal Reserve Board has increased interest rates for the seventh time in a year in an attempt to prevent inflation. The country's economy is growing too quickly, making preemptive measures necessary. The risk of a resulting recession is also discussed.
