Strange brew

Article Abstract:

Gluons and quarks are elementary particles that formed a soup thought to have existed shortly after the big bang. Some researchers are using particle colliders to recreate the soup on Earth, while others seek it among the stars. The Rossi x-ray Timing Explorer has been used for research into this soup. Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Deepto Chakrabarty argues that the type of strange star model used in research will affect the outcome of whether stars can be located containing this quark soup.
