Statoil buys stakes in Anadarko fields: Norwegian oil firm is paying $1.8 billion to tap more reserves

Norway's Statoil ASA is purchasing stakes in the Gulf of Mexico and Brazil from Anadarko Petroleum Corp. for $1.8 bil, and potentially an additional $300 mil based on oil prices. The deal gives Statoil the remaining 50% of the Peregrino field in Brazil that it does not already own, and the 25% interest Anadarko held in the Gulf of Mexico's Kaskida discovery.
