A number of trends characterize the liquor industry in France. The aniseed and whiskey sectors hold the largest market share accounting for 45% and 29% of total sales, respectively in 1993. The bourbon market also grew by 55% between 1989 to 1993. One hundred and seventy-nine liters were sold in 1993 amounting to 12.3 billion francs. Backgrounds on major manufacturers are presented.
