Skoda Dopravni technika (SDT) (Plzen, Czech Republic), engineering firm, has a contract worth CEK 0.25 bil in the US. The firm has supplied the first five low-floor tramway cars to Portland, Oregon, the US, within the contract. The remaining tramway cars should be supplied by the end of Mar 2001. SDT should produce another three tramway cars for the city of Tacoma, Washington, the US. Besides, it will produce four tramway cars for the Czech Republic. SDT will supply eight reconstructed coach sets for the underground in Prague. The firm should commission a locomotive repair joint venture in Russia in 2001.
