The Singapore Tourism Board is beginning a resort-and-residential development project on the Southern Islands of St. John's, Lazarus, and Pulau Seringat, in which a high-speed ferry will link the islands. However, 80% of the land will be left in its natural state. Singapore hopes to bring ecotourism to the region.

Despite its past growth and success, Asia Pulp and Paper chooses not to manage its public image. The company does not have any press executives and it has no communication lines open to the media. This my have to change now that the company is experiencing some financial woes.

The liberalization of the domestic banking industry in Singapore has caused some investors to buy bank stocks in the hope of benefitting from an expected increase in mergers and acquisitions. The Monetary Authority of Singapore has instituted reforms to allow foreign competition and foreign ownership in its domestic banks. Two of the smaller banks, Keppel TatLee Bank and Overseas Union Bank are expected to be acquired. As a result, the banks' stocks are trading at relatively high prices.
