Nokia's increase in market share may aid earnings

Article Abstract:

Nokia Corp. is expected to post an increase of 74% in its pretax profits for the first-half of 1999. According to analysts, Nokia most likely gained market share and strengthened itself as the leading manufacturer of mobile handsets in the world during the second-quarter of 1999. Nokia however, is not expected to maintain the nearly-twofold growth in pretax profits that it saw during the first-quarter due to a slowdown in network sales.
