Article Abstract:
Scottish architectural society RIAS invited Dutch architects to address its 1998 annual convention. The RIAS believes that ideas from the Dutch architectural policy could form a framework for a new Scottish architectural policy. The Dutch policy aims to improve client awareness of the importance of architectural quality, it has established influential local architectural organisations to advise municipal authorities, and it encourages the granting of major public contracts to young architects. The result is an approach to architecture which is brave and open to creative solutions.
