Article Abstract:
A prototype of the upgraded Sikorsky SH-60R Seahawk has been delivered to the Naval Air Systems Command Center for a two-year evaluation of its new glass cockpit avionics and mission systems. Other features of the prototype aside from the Litton-designed glass cockpit inlcudes the APS- 147 radar and sonobuoy system from Telephonics and AQS-22 dipping sonar from the Raytheon/Thomson-CSF team. The US Navy plans to reconfigure a total of 243 SH-60 and HH-60H variants to the SH-60R configuration.

Article Abstract:
Bell Helicopter Textron Inc has received 40,000 pounds sterling from the US Defense Advanced Research Project Agency as an initial funding for the exploration of the precise military requirements for the Quad Tiltrotor heavy transport project and the construction of a 1/14th scale model to conduct hover tests. With up to $6 million reserved for the program, further funding could be appropriated to undertake wind tunnel modeling to provide performance, aero-elastic and loads information.

Article Abstract:
About 38 additional TH-67 Creek helicopters could be purchased by the US Army from Bell Helicopter Textron Inc to meet the needed increase in flight training hours at its school in Fort Rucker, AL. The service currently has 137 Creek helicopters for initial VFR and IFR training. The Army helicopter training requirement also inlcudes new advanced simulators with new generation terrain ad threats graphics. The Army also plans to replace its Bell OH-58 and UH-1 helicopters with TH-67s.
