SAP plans to revise pricing strategy

Article Abstract:

SAP AG, the Waldorf, Germany-based software giant, plans to revise its pricing strategy to allow it to tap new markets. Its present pricing policy is found on fees for each user who is allowed to access particular parts of its flagship R/3 software. SAP has created "solution maps" to study all the functions vital in 17 industries the firm wants to have business with. After this, SAP hopes to come up with new pricing that is reflective of all the SAP and non-SAP software parts these industries will apply.

Pfeiffer gets chairman's job with Intershop

Eckhard Pfeiffer, the former chief executive officer of Compaq Computer Corp., will become the new chairman of Intershop Communications Inc. Intershop is an Internet retail software developer based in San Francisco. The 58-year old Mr. Pfeiffer was forced off Compaq's board of directors in April 1999 as a result of lower-than-expected financial results. He will become chairman in a non-executive status.
