Radical strategies for profitable growth

Article Abstract:

Retrospective analysis demonstrates that, of the three types of growth strategy, only the robust approach produces long-term value for the shareholder. Analysis of companies which have attracted admiration in the past, due to their spectacular growth rates, reveals that the radical and rational approaches to growth did not generate sustainability. Characteristics of robust growth strategies include a commitment to quality and to customer service, the development of effective organizational systems and investment in staff training and motivation.
