Purchasing demand information in a stochastic-demand inventory system

Article Abstract:

A study presents an analytical and numerical evaluation of information purchase decisions in a periodic-review, stochastic-demand inventory system. An inventory model is used under assumptions of an optimal information-purchase and product-replenishment policy in both finite and infinite horizons. Results reveal an effective developmental approach to solving purchasing demand information problems which can be applied too in imperfect-information scenarios.

Optimal warranties, reliabilities and prices for durable goods in an oligopoly

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze the problem of durable goods manufacturing companies in an oligopoly looking for optimal values for a number of decision variables, namely product warranty, price and reliability. A game-theoretic framework of warranty-reliability-price competition was utilized to analyze Nash equilibria. Results indicated that risk aversion of consumers supported the manufacture of reliable products and longer warranty periods.

Optimal shared-savings contracts in supply chains: linear contracts and double moral hazard

Article Abstract:

An analysis of the supply chain problems in the cases of shared-savings contracts is presented. In the context of consumption of indirect materials the supplier can offer shared-incentives to the customers, which linear contract can however be exploited by either the customer or the supplier to the detriment of the other. An optimal solution to the situation is suggested.
