Polisario's sinking hopes

Article Abstract:

The Polisario Front's hopes of achieving independence for the Western Sahara seem to be waning. The United Nations has failed to hold the promised referendum for the Moroccan-held area, and its new plan would in effect legitimise Morocco's rule. France and the US also seem to support Morocco.

Article Abstract:

The opportunity to conclude the world trade talks and sign a treaty was lost for ridiculous reasons when Francois Mitterrand refused to sign rather than irk farmers. Now no treaty can occur until after the US elections. All but a few points had been negotiated.
