There is a great deal of discontent among Republican conservatives, because of a shortage of leaders with strong ideas and a lack of common principles that bond the Republican party. The fall of communism and the rise of democratic governments worldwide are other factors.

Into the swing

Article Abstract:

Both Pres Bush and Bill Clinton are attempting to influence the swing vote, or those voters who will switch to a different party than the one for which they voted in the last election. The election is likely to be close, and Clinton is leading Bush in the polls.
