Other documents include ADF: Means of Ventilation, and Energy Performance in Buildings Directive, which sets an energy rating for all buildings placed in a visible location.

The Standard Assessment Procedure for Energy Rating of Dwellings is hidden on the Building Regulation's (BRE's) website and those expecting the ODPM, the arbiter of the Building Regulations, to notify them of its release should be aware that it has been taken as a publication for the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. The Approved Document Part L is a revised second-tier upgrade that will be updated automatically in case of advance in one area of energy efficiency.

Although the innovative construction project is required to meet certain Building Regulations criteria, the building needs to be assessed for a range of ethereal issues such as safety, durability, functionality, resilience, repairability and adaptability.
