Painting the past

Article Abstract:

There is increasing awareness of the historical significance of of colour in ancient architecture. Paints were used to protect the stone from weathering and it is possible to obtain information from surviving, often tiny, paint fragments. Evidence of colour was found during the conservation of Exeter Cathedral and paint traces were plotted onto archaeologists' drawings. These colour samples revealed many layers of paint.

An insight into the history of school buildings using prefabricated wall, floor and roof panels is presented. The method to erect the entire envelope that can be modified to perform any functional requirement and can be set up in less than 15 hours if logistics permit is discussed.
