A congressional commission in Brazil is investigating president Fernando Collor de Mello and the false economic reforms he has implemented. Some politicians believe that Collor de Mello's resignation would help to spur needed reform.

Franco has so far shown little indication that he will push forward needed reform measures to coax Brazil out of its economic problems. He has criticized the idea of a free market and may pull Brazil back into protectionism.
