Article Abstract:
The Internationale Bauausstellung Furst-Puckler-Land (IBA), the self-styled biggest landscape project in Europe, aims to transform a run-down region of abandoned mines in the Lasitz, eastern Germany. The IBA seeks sustainable development as it stresses tourism and recreation with many pits becoming lakes and it aims to cultivate new forms of energy like biomass, but it still wants the region's special topography and history to count.

The Walker Art Center in Minneapolis signed Herzog & de Meuron (H&deM) for its long-time engagement with art and artist, and its proven ability to handle a project of this scope and opened its doors in 2005, after the $67.5 million project was completed. The main features and the land plan of the building are highlighted.
