Lundbeck net profit, sales rise

Novo Nordisk AS posted a decline in its pretax profits for the first quarter of 1999. The company reported a 14% drop in its profits for the quarter. However, the figure was still higher than expected. Novo Nordisk's profits resulted from an early booking of sales and good currency exchange rates. The company reported 759 million kroner ($107.9 million) in pretax earnings. During the same period in 1998, Novo Nordisk posted 882 million kroner.
