Novartis's net profit rises 13%, driven by a 19% sales increase

Novartis AG of Switzerland posted net profit increases of 13 percent or $1.67 billion in the third quarter, up from $1.47 billion last year. Sales increased 19 percent to $8.42 billion. The increases were driven by growth in sales and a decrease in marketing spend.

Swiss Life net drops as capital gains fall

Swiss Life posted a drop in its net profits for the 2001 first-half. The company posted 253 million Swiss francs (158.4 million euros) in net profits for the period, compared to 372 million francs during the same 2000 period.
