Not hopeless: Bosnia

Article Abstract:

There are definite signs of progress in the peace process of Bosnia, which has been marred by continuing inter-ethnic violence. Western negotiators have persuaded Muslim and Croat leaders to create a joint police force, which will help to unify the Muslim-Croat federation.

Peace in the hands of the unpeaceful Serbs

Article Abstract:

The success of the Jan 1993 peace conference aimed at ending the conflict in Bosnia depends on the positions adopted by the Serbs. A proposed split of Bosnia into ten provinces hinges on the willingness of Serbia to cede some of the territory its forces now control.
