Australian Prime Minister John Howard is coming under growing pressure as the racially divisive One Nation party, headed by Pauline Hanson, begins having an impact nationally. The rise of this party has put Howard under pressure to push through Parliament legislation limiting the rights of aborigines to claim traditional native title over outback farming lands. Divisions are emerging in his coalition over moves to sell the government's remaining two-thirds stake in telecommunications operator Telstra.
