Philippine President Fidel Ramos maintained the country can overcome the financial crisis that Asia is facing, and disclosed new reforms to maintain the Philippines' economic development. The Philippine economy has surfaced from the chaos as one of Asia's strongest, notwithstanding that the Philippines is less developed than its neighbors. The country's central bank's monetary policy has helped maintain a low inflation setting.

Solution to Japan's credit crunch: securitize bad debt

Article Abstract:

The Japanese government would do well to pursue securitized debt, an acknowledged, market-based solution to address the country's economic and financial problems. A market for securitized debt provides an excellent alternative to the official plans aimed at resolving the increasing bad-debt problem and mitigate the existing credit crunch. A securitized-debt market would help check the amount of tax money at risk.
