NAME THE NUTS

Article Abstract:

Blue Diamond Growers Association of the US entered the domestic market with the launch of its Blue Diamond brand of unflavoured nuts in Mumbai recently. It has tied-up with Godrej Foods Ltd for distribution and marketing. The Blue Diamond brand will be distributed through the retail network of Godrej Foods consisting of about one lakh outlets. The company will initially concentrate on unflavoured almonds and cashewnuts and will later introduce branded peanuts. The nuts have been launched in packs of 50 gm to 500 gm and are priced between Rs24 to Rs210 for almonds and Rs23 to Rs205 for cashews. The company expects sales to increase by about 20 percent if import duties are reduced by 25 percent over the next two years. An investment of about Rs2-5 crore has bee made initially in this venture. (khr)

SILICON AUTOMATION LAUNCHES SYNAPSE HOSTGLITE

Article Abstract:

Silicon Automation Systems of Bangalore has developed a host- based software G.lite solutions, Synapse HostGlite. It has licensed the software to Ambient Technologies Inc. The software expected in the market in the later part of the year. The software will enable applications such as movie-on-demand, distance education and faster internet access. It uses the existing telephone lines but offers 30 times faster access than the modems. (um)(psr)
