Microsoft bares code to avoid fines

Article Abstract:

Microsoft Corp. of the United States has revealed its proprietory source code for the Windows Operating System in a move to quell complaints from rivals and American and European antitrust authorities. Software industry rivals need the information so that their products will mesh better with Microsoft Windows. The software giant was facing a fine of 2 million Euros ($2.5 million) per day in the European Union for appearing to defy court orders to share programming information.

Business group may take on EU over chemicals

Article Abstract:

The Chamber of Commerce of the United States is vowing to take the European Union to court if proposed new rules for the chemical industry become law. Thomas Donohue, President of the Chamber of Commerce of the United States said "They have no idea of the interdependence of our economies" refering to European policy makers and environmetalists.
