Article Abstract:

Microsoft has developed Office 2000 to replace Office 97, with a greater focus on the Internet than the previous product. Users may see few advantages for the new product, and this is partly due to diminishing returns. Office 97 already had a large number of features, and many users do not need all the features that Office 2000 can offer. Users can also find free software, so the cost of new products may appear too high. The next avenue developed by Microsoft could be speech recognition.
