Merger and acquisitions (MA) expert Barrie Pearson is a restaurant inspector in his spare time. His successful MA firm, Livingstone Guarantee, was launched in 1976 from Pearson's home. Since then Pearson has worked on numerous acquisitions including the purchase of do-it-yourself store chain Do It All on behalf of retailer chain WH Smith. Pearson and the company's other directors like to retain business independence.
