Article Abstract:

The period during 1964 to 1970 was dominated by a Labor government in the UK that was confronted with the most serious housing crisis of the century. During this time very little housing was built for six years and 750,000 dwellings were either destroyed or rendered uninhabitable as a result of wartime bombings and missile attacks.

The practice of pupillage in different fields is discussed. Even architecture was learned by pupillage, by working for practicing architects and paying for the privilege and hence the decline in pupillage will affect the architectural practice.
