Article Abstract:
Format Milton Architects has been responsible for designing Pokesdown Primary School in Bournemouth, England. It was necessary to design a two-storey building because of the presence of a former school building on the site, and this created a number of challenges. Furthermore, the building had to have a low profile in keeping with the residential nature of the surroundings. The school is sunk half a storey into the ground, thus requiring innovative approaches to light and circulation.

Article Abstract:
Work on the Birmingham Repertory Theatre cost some 7 million pounds sterling and took 12 weeks to complete. Some 100,000 pounds sterling was spent on the entrance area. The seating within the auditorium was reorganised to ensure all seats provided a good view of the performance area. Some 20 seats were lost in the new seating plan. The theatre has new acoustics and air conditioning. Some work still needs to be done to complete the project although funding has now been spent. Pawson Williams Architects made the designs for the refurbishment project.
