India and Pakistan continue to battle over the Kashmir jurisdiction dispute, which they have already fought two wars over. Talks in Delhi on the issue have not made much progress, although it appears unlikely that the two would resort to war again.

US Pres George Bush wants to end the sanctions imposed on India after its nuclear-bomb tests in 1998. However, this would be dangerous unless the US first gains clear pledges from India and Pakistan on nuclear weapons.
