Japan's schoolyard bullying extends to workplace

Article Abstract:

Maltreatment practices are rampant not only in Japanese educational institutions but also in workplaces. There has been a number of cases cited wherein workers are demoted for unknown reasons and forced to resign from their positions. These unfair practices may be attributed to ill-defined job description and lack of employee-employer agreement. It was also found that employers are frequently hesitant to file appropriate charges due to fears of losing their jobs.

Japan finds the night economic-policy mix

Article Abstract:

Japan is implementing economic policy adjustments to cope with the recession resulting from the mistakes of its former policy makers. Its economy has posted the largest contraction of -2.8% and an unemployment rate that are the lowest since the post-war period. Banks are saddled with bad debts while the manufacturing industry is suffering from overcapacity. Its new set of economic policy tools include its fiscal, banking and monetary policies.

Japan mishandled the mad-cow crisis

Article Abstract:

Japan recorded its first positive test for 'mad cow' disease, or bovine spongiform encephalopathy on September 10, 2001. Panic has since spread throughout the country after more cattle have tested positive for the deadly disease. The government's handling of the outbreak is analyzed.
