Japan's rescue package

Japan has instituted a plan to shore up banks, reduce taxes and increase public spending in an attempt to stop the country from slipping further into a recession. The government may have overreacted to a minor downturn, but Japan has a lot to lose if its economy crumbles.

Japan may pursue an economic stimulus to help boost the country out of its lingering recession. The Ministry of International Trade and Industry is suggesting a ten-year infrastructure investment, but the gross national debt inhibits much deficit financing.
