Article Abstract:
A methodology for the integration of the functions of operation sequencing, machine selection and determination of economic production quantity (EPQ) to minimize total manufacturing cost in an environment with routing flexibility is shown to be flexible in a number of production planning situations with alternate processes. The technique applies a basic inventory control model to a problem with a larger scope that combines decisions on operation sequencing, machine routing and inventory control for a batch manufacturing system. EPQ and the total cost of manufacturing are greatly affected by the selection of the operation sequence and which machine to use.

Article Abstract:
The problem of defining an optimal orientation of cells and the definition of the optimal cutting sequence that minimize the placement board area can be solved in polynomial time. Binary trees that stand for the topological model of the circuit can also symbolize a sequence of slicing cuts, which is required to determine rectangular areas to place the individual elements.

Article Abstract:
The optimal production life cycle of a deteriorating production system is evaluated. The singularity of the performance of each production system is accepted although a model is developed to determine approximately how long a production system will operate efficiently. An evaluation of this model is also provided.
