The role, impact and advantages of Information Technology (IT) in Supply Chain Management (SCM) have been discussed. The study, after going through all the available literature in SCM vis-a-vis IT, categorizes them into six different areas viz. strategic planning, virtual enterprise, e-commerce, infrastructure, knowledge and information technology (IT) management and implementation.
