Article Abstract:

Sofreavia's Messir-Vision is a new addition to the firm's data processing and display system for medium and small meteorological services. Based on PC technology and Windows-NT software, it is part of the Messir-Sadis/ WAFS system of meteorological products for use in aeronautics. The system uses weather data from the ICAO World Area Forecast System. It provides global coverage through three satellites positioned over the Indian, Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.

Frequentis has introduced a number of voice and data switching systems which are designed to complement systems and functions required in air traffic control towers. Two of its products are the Aerodrome Data Display, an integrated weather information system for controllers and the Automatic Terminal Information Service (ATIS) system, a computer-based system for processing information in datalink format.

Touch entry technology update

Article Abstract:

Frequentis of Austria has introduced a touch screen device for air traffic control use which includes an electronic processor board equipped with a 32-bit RISC-processor to operate the touch panel. The device features a page switching time of less than 50 ms, a touch reaction time of less than 10 ms, sunlight readability, low energy consumption and auto-callibration to prevent parallax failures.
