In defence of Europe

Article Abstract:

The European Union (EU) is setting up defense committees, and aims to take over some tasks from the Western European Union (WEU) and take over some tasks from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) that the US does not wish to become involved in. There is a need for funding for new equipment, and for the development of skills. The US wants European efforts to fit with those of NATO rather than duplicating them. There could be regular meetings between the EU and NATO in order for better understanding to develop.
