ING Groep's net-increase projection is seen by analysts as too pessimistic

ING Groep NV is predicting that its net income for the full 1999 year will improve by 10% to 15%. However, analysts believe the company's results will be even higher than that. For the first quarter of 1999, ING posted a 32% increase in operating profits to 775 million euros ($810.3 million). The company's net profits dropped 12% compared to last year. The 1998 first quarter included a 292 million euros gain from the sale of shares in Kredietbank and Libertel.

ABN Amro likely to show increase of 26% in its net

ABN Amro Holding NV will post an improvement of 26% in its net profits for the first-half of 1999. The company is expected to report profits of approximately 1.39 billion euros for the period. During the same period in 1998, ABN posted 1.1 billion euros in earnings ABN is a banking group based in the Netherlands. The bank said that good environments in financial markets and the economic recovery in Asia helped its figures.
