ING Groep NV is predicting that its net income for the full 1999 year will improve by 10% to 15%. However, analysts believe the company's results will be even higher than that. For the first quarter of 1999, ING posted a 32% increase in operating profits to 775 million euros ($810.3 million). The company's net profits dropped 12% compared to last year. The 1998 first quarter included a 292 million euros gain from the sale of shares in Kredietbank and Libertel.

During the same period in 1998, ABN posted 1.1 billion euros in earnings ABN is a banking group based in the Netherlands. The bank said that good environments in financial markets and the economic recovery in Asia helped its figures.
