The economic performance of the hot drinks markets in France, Italy, Germany, Spain and the UK from 1991 to 1995 and their prospects until the year 2000 are examined. The markets are segregated into separate categories for coffee, tea and food drinks. Statistics and other indicators reveal the maturity of the European market. The analysis also include profiles on leading firms such as Kraft Jacobs Suchard, Procter and Gamble, Lavazza and Unilever.

France's retail market for hot drinks during 1995-1999 decreased by 3.9% and appears to be maturing. Coffee was the most popular drink, accounting for 71% of 1999's volume sales of hot drinks.
