Heli-Dyne delivers Gendarmerie MD520N

Article Abstract:

Heli-Dyne Systems has delivered a re-configured MD Helicopters MD520N to the Belgian Gendarmerie. The reconfigured MD520N features an Avalex LCD monitor, Skyforce moving map system wit GPS and lightweight armor and airborne microwave system. The aircraft is also equipped with a Wescam Model 12DS tri-sensor turret with thermal imager and day/light television. In its new configuration, the helicopter is capable of undertaking surveillance, tacital, search and utility missions.

EH101 icing certification

Article Abstract:

EH Industries is using two EH101 prototypes to accelerate the icing and cold certification of the helicopter. One prototype, PP7, has started instrumentation test flights in Nova Scotia and has so far logged 13 flights in moderate to heavy snow conditions to minus 6 degrees centigrade. Previously, prototype PP3 was flown in Nova Scotia and Denmark at temperatures as low as minus 22 degrees centigrade.

Robison expands to meet demand

Article Abstract:

Robinson Helicopter will expand production at its facility in Torrance, CA, to meet increased demand. The expansion will raise production from four to five helicopters per week and will entail the hiring of at least 50 new workers and expanding building space by a third. The company has already received orders for over 170 aircraft in early 2000 after delivering 128 R22s and 150 R44s in 1999.
